U.S. Navy Sailor Matt and his wife, Brie, never take family time for granted. With Matt’s deployment rotation at an all-time high, every moment together is cherished. Whether it’s laughter around the dinner table or quiet moments with their children, Connor and Harper, the family understands just how precious time can be. Matt is quick to say he couldn’t do his job without Brie. Her strength, faith, and unwavering support are the foundation that holds their family together. But even the strongest families face seasons that test them deeply. In 2015, that test came when the couple learned Matt would be leaving again—just two months after returning from a six-month deployment. This time, he would be gone for a full year. For Brie, the news was overwhelming. “I just got my husband back, and then they tell me they’re taking him again,” she shared. “I couldn’t survive without my relationship with God—knowing He’s in control and has a plan.” To prepare for the long separation, they decided it was best for Brie and the children to move back to Texas to be closer to family. While the move was necessary, it came with a heavy financial burden. Because the relocation was voluntary, the Navy wouldn’t cover the cost, and the family faced the possibility of going into debt. Adding to the strain, Matt would only be able to return home once during his deployment, and they couldn’t afford the travel expenses. After learning about the family’s situation, their church contacted CBN’s Helping the Home Front. Soon after, Pastor Win Levis arrived with unexpected news: “CBN would cover the cost of the move to Texas—and pay for Matt’s round-trip travel so he could come home on leave.” Overwhelmed with gratitude, Matt called it “a huge blessing,” “It’s just God’s light shining down on us through CBN,” Brie said. “It’s God showing us that He’s here.” Thanks to our partners compassionate support, this military family can now focus on their family and their bright future.
